Global Oasis Climate Fund (GOCF) Attends the 69th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) to Advance Global Gender Equality and Green Inclusive Development

New York, March 2025 – The Global Oasis Climate Fund (GOCF) was invited to participate in the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) at the UN Headquarters in New York. Centered on the theme "Accelerating Gender Equality and the Empowerment of All Women and Girls," the conference assessed global progress and challenges in implementing the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.

As an international environmental organization committed to advancing green transition and climate justice, GOCF emphasized the pivotal role of women in sustainable development, green finance, and climate governance. Beyond engaging in official meetings and parallel forums, GOCF hosted a high-profile side event titled "Her Power for a Green Future: Women’s Leadership in Climate Action," drawing delegates from across five continents for dynamic discussions.

GOCF’s Policy Statement:
During the summit, GOCF released its 2025 Gender and Climate Integration Initiative Statement, outlining three key positions:

  1. Green transitions must be gender-equal transitions: Women in climate-vulnerable regions face disproportionate environmental impacts, necessitating gender-sensitive adaptation strategies.

  2. Women are key drivers of green finance: GOCF urges governments and development institutions to increase funding for women entrepreneurs, climate leaders, and female workers in sustainable industries.

  3. Gender equality must be structurally embedded, not just rhetorical: GOCF advocates integrating gender mainstreaming into Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and green fiscal budgets.

Key Outcomes at CSW69:

• Signed MoUs with the African Climate Fund and the Asian Women’s Alliance for Sustainability to jointly promote green development and women’s capacity-building initiatives.

• Proposed the Green Women Impact Award to annually honor 10 global female pioneers merging environmental, gender, and innovation solutions.

• Launched the Climate Sisters Program, a five-year initiative to empower 1,000 women climate leaders with training, academic credentials, and platforms in international green governance dialogues.

Excerpt from GOCF’s Address:
Dr. Qi Chong, Chairperson of GOCF, stated:
"Gender equality is not a secondary agenda to sustainability—it is foundational. A green future cannot be realized without women. We are committed to ensuring every woman striving for sustainability has a voice, support, and the agency to lead change."

Future Commitments: Institutional Integration, Global Expansion

GOCF will deepen its focus on gender-climate intersections through:

  1. Women’s Green Education: Offering certified courses via edu.gr to enhance women’s professional competitiveness in the green economy.

  2. Women’s Green Entrepreneurship: Establishing a dedicated fund providing interest-free loans and grants for female climate innovators.

  3. Women’s Green Diplomacy: Leveraging multilateral partnerships to train and amplify women’s leadership in global climate policymaking.
